We study chirality of commensurable classes of hyperbolic 3-manifolds of finite volume (abbreviated as commensurable classes in the following) and obtain following three results.
First, we provide necessary conditions for determining when a commensurable class contains an achiral manifold. Second, we find a chiral manifold in each commensurable class. Third, in each commensurable class that contains an achiral manifold, we find a non-orientable manifold.
The basic tool is minimal model theory with Galois action and strong approximation theorem. They are applied to construct chiral and achiral manifolds.
This is joint work with Ye Tian, Shicheng Wang and Zhongzi Wang.
