Abstract: There are many interesting hypersurfaces in spheres, one of which is called isoparametric hypersurface (with constant principal curvature functions). The isoparametric hypersurfaces in spheres are more attractive and more difficult than those in Euclidean space and hyperbolic space. The classification of isoparametric hypersurfaces in spheres was initiated in late 1930s by Cartan and finally completed till to the year 2020 by many mathematicians. S. S. Chern's conjecture, Perdomo's conjecture and Solomon-Yau’s conjecture are all classical problems related to isoparametric hypersurfaces in differential geometry, which are widely concerned by scholars and experts at home and abroad. This report mainly introduces the research backgrounds and latest progress of these conjectures and related issues. |
