Abstract: This talk will give an introduction to nearly holomorphic modular forms on the complex upper half plane. Follow a recent note by Pitale, Saha and Schmidt, we show how to use the representation theory of SL(2,R) to approach Shimura's classical structure theorem on the space of all nearly holomorphic modular forms. This structure theorem can be deduced from a decomposition for the space of n-finite automorphic forms on SL(2,R).
