Abstract: Decomposing the tensor product of Jordan blocks of sizes $r$ and $s$ means to calculate the Jordan canonical form of this tensor product, which is to find the corresponding partition of $rs$. In this talk, I will first review some algorithmic ways to compute such partitions, and then introduce some interesting properties of them as well as open questions. The latter is based on a joint work with Stephen Glasby and Cheryl Praeger. I will only assume the background of linear algebra in most parts of the talk.
