Abstract:(with Chi Li) In this talk, I will discuss our recent work of using the minimal model program to simplify a given test configuration. As an application, we show that to test K-polystability or K-semistability of a Fano manifold of Picard number 1, it suffices to only look at the test configurations with the central fiber with at worst klt singularity. In particular, in this case this proves and improves the conjecture (due to Tian) that we only need to study the test configurations with normal central fibers.
