Abstract:

In this series of talks, I will give a brief introduction to representation theory of real reductive groups based on the examples of GL(2,R) and SL(2,R). More precisely, I will review the classification of irreducible admissible representations of GL(2,R), the problem of unitary dual, and their relation to spectral decomposition.
