The gauged linear sigma model (GLSM) is a physical theory than can be used to study the (Kaehler) moduli space of Calabi-Yaus. Different limiting regions in the moduli space are obtained as "phases" of the GLSM. In this talk we will use GLSM methods to analyze the boundary regions between phases. These regions capture information about the discriminant and further data that is relevant for the analytic continuation between phases. In physics language this in encoded in "Coulomb" and "mixed Coulomb/Higgs" branches. We will explain how this works in non-trivial examples.
