The Ising model is one of the most extensively studied models in Statistical Mechanics. The Random Field Ising model (RFIM) is a variation of the Ising model that regained much interest in recent years. The study of a phenomenon called phase transition on the RFIM was one of the first instances where mathematicians helped physicists answer debated questions. Another variation of the Ising model, the long-range Ising model, allows all particles to interact with each other, making it more a physically accurate model.
In this talk, after introducing these models and the problem of phase transition, I will present some recent developments concerning the phase transition on the long-range RFIM, a model that combines both variations and considers long-range interactions in the presence of a random field.
