In this talk, I will give an introductory presentation on the quantitative unique continuation and its applications in nodal geometry. Then I will talk about the recent progress on doubling inequality for periodic elliptic operators. Several important conjectures on this toptic will be mentioned. This talk partially contains my work joint with Carlos Kenig and Jiuyi Zhu.
