Abstract: The theory of algebraic cycles has been central to algebraic geometry, intertwined with arithmetic, topology, and Hodge theory of varieties, since Riemann initiated the study of divisors on compact Riemann surfaces in the 19th century. In this talk, I will give an overview of the theory, and discuss recent advances in cycles with integral coefficients, motivated by classical problems such as rationality questions and local-global principles.
Biography: Fumiaki Suzuki is an Assistant Professor at Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research. He obtained his PhD from University of Illinois Chicago. His research interests lie in algebraic cycles, birational geometry, and Hodge theory.
