Kenneth Ribet is currently a professor of mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley.  He is a member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences. He has been the president of the American Mathematical Society since 2017.
Professor Ribet is a leading figure in the field of algebraic number theory. He is most famous for proving the epsilon conjecture which paved the way of the proof of Fermat's last theorem.  He was an invited speaker of ICM 1986. Professor Ribet received the Fermat prize in 1989 the Brouwer Medal in 2017.
