Abstract: The estimation of characteristic
values in many problems in Dynamical Systems and related fields (such as
Lyapunov exponents, metric entropy, dimension of attractors, etc.). We will describe
approachs based on ergodic theory and (more specifically) thermodynamic
formalism and transfer operators. The
first lecture will concentrate on dimension. The second lecture will focus on
Lyanunov exponents.
