Complex Multiplication and Modular Curves, with a View towards the André-Oort Conjecture
Speaker(s): Aurélien Galateau(Université de Franche-Comté)
Time: March 23 - May 18, 2016
Venue: Room 29, Quan Zhai, BICMR
Time: Every Wednesday (14:00-16:00) From 2016-03-23 to 2016-05-18; April, 4; April, 11; April, 25; May, 9; May, 16. (14:00-16:00)
The first part of the course will focus on algebraic number theory (mainly class field theory of quadratic imaginary fields) and complex multiplication (mainly on elliptic curves, but also on general abelian varieties). We will then recall basic facts concerning modular curves. The last lectures will be an introduction to the André-Oort conjecture on a power of a modular curve. The course will be accessible to third-year or fourth-year undergraduate students.
