Abstract: 

Higher gauge theory studies the generalization of ordinary gauge theory to higher algebraic structures. In this framework, the gauge potentials and their field strengths are extended to higher-degree differential forms that take values in the associated higher algebras. This talk is devoted to higher Chern-Simons theory viewed as a strict higher gauge theory, in which we develop a systematic approach to its construction using generalized differential forms.
