Abstract: This presentation explores the connections between integrable systems and Lagrangian multiforms within the framework of the variational bicomplex. Integrable systems, characterized by their rich structure and solvability, are pivotal in various fields of mathematical physics and differential geometry. The novel approach of using Lagrangian multiforms extends the classical Lagrangian formalism to include multi-parameter families of solutions. The variational bicomplex provides a natural and powerful geometric framework for formulating these multiforms, offering new insights into the underlying variational principles. This presentation is partially based on collaboration with Peter Hydon (University of Kent) and Frank Nijhoff (University of Leeds).
