The Stokes phenomenon refers to the fact that the analytic continuation of asymptotic solutions to certain systems of linear ODEs cannot preserve their asymptotic behaviour. In this talk, we will start the introduction of this phenomenon by studying Airy’s equations. Then we will relate such phenomenon with meromorphic connections and discuss the associated Riemann-Hilbert(-Birkhoff) correspondence. Finally, we will explain the ideas on how to obtain a broader correspondence, called irregular nonabelian Hodge correspondence. This broader correspondence aims to relate the aforementioned objects with meromorphic Higgs bundles. Based on joint work with Hao Sun.
