In 2019, physicists officially made a quantum redefinition of the kilogram, based on a macroscopic phenomenon; this sounds like a contradiction. I will present a theorem on the quantization of the trace of commutators AB-BA, which is apparently another contradiction.
These two "contradictions" are directly related, and are resolved by an appropriate index theory for noncompact Riemannian manifolds.
