Knot invariant is a central topic in the study of the topology of knots and links. Jones polynomial is the most important one among them. Different from traditional method, In 2012, it was derived from a 4 dimensional gauge theory and endowed with evident physical meaning. In this talk, we will give a brief introduction to the method of deriving knot invariants from a gauge potential called Yang-Yang function and present our recent progress on it. This is joint work with Wei-Dong Ruan (AMSS,CAS).
