Abstract: We will look at general topological field theories in two dimensions, and motivate their study from a physical point of view. I will discuss Dijkgraaf and Witten's paper (1990) of the same title studying the genus-0 and genus-1 correlation functions in an arbitrary topological field theory coupled to two-dimensional topological gravity using constitutive relations for the theory. We will also try to understand relations to matrix models, and integrable systems.
