Boundary regularity in hypoelliptic kinetic equations

Abstract: The interplay between transport and degenerate diffusion in kinetic equations yields hypoelliptic smoothing effect. Yet singular boundary sets inherent to kinetic transport flows impede the gain of regularity up to the boundary from reaching a level comparable to that achieved in the interior. We will discuss this phenomenon for general Fokker-Planck-Landau-type models and quantify sharp regularity results.
