We are going to discuss the decoupling theory developed by Bourgain and Demeter. Then we present a joint work with Ciprian Demeter and Larry Guth about decoupling into smaller caps. A key ingredient is an incidence estimate between points and tubes, the proof of which uses basic Fourier analysis.
