Jacob Tsimerman is currently a professor at the math department of the University of Toronto. His research is primarily number theory and surrounding topics. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Princeton University in 2011. He was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize in 2016 in recognition for his work on the André–Oort conjecture and for his work in both analytic number theory and algebraic geometry. He was an invited speaker of ICM in the year 2018.
Abstract: (Joint w/ Ananth Shankar) We prove that over an arbitrary global field, for every $g>3$ there exists an abelian variety which is not isogenous to a Jacobian.
