A Plethora of Murnaghan-Nakayama Rules

I will begin with the classical Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for the symmetric group. Next, I will discuss some generalizations of this result: the Hecke algebra generalization (Ram, 1991) and the Hecke-Clifford algebra generalization (Jing- Liu, 2023), introduced through a new approach using vertex operators. Finally, I will present a recent result, a Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for the Ariki-Koike algebra, derived using λ-ring theory. These results were developed in collaboration with Naihuan Jing.
