Abstract: I will discuss some recent and less recent results concerning the statistical properties of hyperbolic billiards, with particular emphasis on properties motivated by fundamental questions in non-equilibrium statistical mechanics.
Speaker: Prof. Liverani, currently a Professor and the Director of the Ph.D. School in Mathematics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, works in the areas of Dynamical Systems, Probability, Quantum Mechanics and Non-Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics. To recognize his great contributions, Prof. Liverani was invited to give an ICM talk in 2018 and awarded International Prize Cataldo Agostinelli ed Angiola Gili Agostinelli for Mechanics or Mathematical Physics in 2019. He is the Socio Corrispondente (Corresponding Partner) of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, a member of the Academia Europaea, and also an editorial board member for several journals, e.g., Communications in Mathematical Physics, Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems. Prof. Liverani has written over 80 papers and has received multiple grants from PRIN and European Advanced Grant.
