For a long time, many popular public key cryptographic schemes have been built based on computationally hard problems in number theory such as integer factorization problem, discrete log problem etc. However, the emergence of quantum computers threatens the security of such public-key cryptographic schemes. Thus we urgently need secure public key cryptosystems against attacks using quantum computers, which we call post-quantum cryptography. One of good candidates is lattice-based public key cryptography, because it is considered to be quantum-resistant and has several attractive and distinguishing features on its efficiency as well. In this talk, we discuss cryptographic aspects of lattices and present our recent results on lattice based cryptography.
