Abstract: 

In this talk, I will introduce the framework of the geography of varieties of general type in dimension 3. The key point of this talk is to depict the history of the proof of Noether Inequality.

Introduction of the Speaker:

Professor Meng Chen is the Dean of School of Mathematical Sciences, Fudan University. His main research interest is birational geometry, especailly for high-dimensional varieties. He was awarded with NSFC Outstanding Young Scientist Grant in 2006 and elected as Chang-jiang Scholar in 2007. He has been invited to be a sectional speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians, 2018.
